  16. San Francisco, CA...February 7, 1995 ... In response to heavy 
  17. consumer demand for user-ready data compression CD-ROM software, 
  18. CD ROM-USA, Inc. announced today at the Intermedia Conference and 
  19. Exhibition on Multimedia and CD-ROM its enhanced CRI-X2Ö driver and
  20. a limited-time offer. The new version is known as CRI-X2Ö 2.O.
  21. Previous concerns associated with only using conventional memory have 
  22. been eliminated. The capability to load multiple volumes of up to 
  23. 2.0 GB of data per volume has been added, doing away with the Microsoft
  24. DOS barrier. The company routinely places 2.0 GB of data on CD-ROM discs
  25. for commercial use, and recently experienced an industry first-placing 
  26. 5.0 GB of data on a shipping CD-ROM disc. This new development especially 
  27. impacts companies archiving data on a regular basis. For example, one 
  28. CD-ROM disc with conventional memory can hold approximately 330,000 
  29. standard 8 1l2" x 11" single-spaced pages of text. CRI-X2Ö technology 
  30. multiplies that amount, and most often achieves 3.0:1, giving licensees 
  31. the ability to place over 1 million pages of ACSII text on a single CD-ROM
  32. disc.
  33. The recent improvements also make CRI-X2 ideal for many multi-media
  34. applications such as games, training and entertainment. Beginning today, 
  35. CD ROM-USA, Inc. is offering the new CRI-X2Ö Introductory Package at just
  36. $149.00, which includes a 100-disc license. Special lower pricing also 
  37. affects 500, 1,000 and 10,000-piece licenses (Please call for revised rates.
  38. From now through February 28 of this year, this new pricing structure 
  39. allows users to take a quantum leap into the next generation of CD-ROM 
  40. technology, vastly increasing disc capacity for a very affordable price. 
  41. "With our new lower prices and significant improvements in the 
  42. revolutionary CRI-X2Ö software, there is now no reason that anyone 
  43. interested in data compression technology cannot test it with their own 
  44. applications," said Lisa Weber, Vice President of Advertising and 
  45. Marketing at CD ROM û USA, Inc. "Because our company develops real, 
  46. working solutions to virtually any type of CD-ROM technical requirements, 
  47. we foresee adding many companies to our lengthy list of CRI-X2Ö customers. 
  48. We are pleased to be able to offer improved technology at lower prices,"

  50. Last May, CD ROM û USA, Inc. astounded the CD-ROM industry by announcing 
  51. the new data compression technology, which permits users of STACKER 4.0 
  52. to copy compressed volumes directly to a CD-ROM disc. This process can 
  53. increase data storage capacity up to 15 times on a standard CD-ROM disc. 
  54. With no modifications to existing hardware, the user can expect to see 
  55. unprecedented performance enhancements, especially when storing text, 
  56. data and images. CRI-X2Ö is compatible with any PC, 8086 through Pentium. 
  57. Macintosh«, OS2« and UnixÖ versions are currently under development.
